Zebras are black animals with white stripes
It is often said that zebras are white and they have black stripes. Looking at some zebras who have white bellies this seems to make sense. It was also long believed that zebras were white animals with black stripes. However, embryological evidence shows that the animal’s background color is black and the white stripes and bellies are additions.
